Question
Response
What else can you think of that might support someone in recovery?
Emergency intensive crisis response services for severe behavioral disabilities for children under 13 with persistent troubled behaviors not helped by existing resources. Ongoing intensive care for kids under 13 is a missing resource. WISe is not enough and CLIP cannot keep kids past a certain time even when severe violent behaviors continue. 911 legally will not come and hospitals won't admit when this is baseline behavior. My son and I, our lives ARE in danger and there's NO resources for this kind of severity.
What else can you think of that might support someone in recovery?
Need a resource that can respond when my 11 is dangerous, violent and in crisis. 911 will not come because they are banned from restraining him and the hospital won't accept him as this is his baseline behavior and they are intended for temporary conditions.
What else can you think of that might support someone in recovery?
Accessible to the person
What else can you think of that might support someone in recovery?
Actually support people after their "recovery". I was is Recovery, which was great. All the support was there....and then...poof gone. There is NO long term Recovery support. I "graduated" my program 12.5 yes ago and have NEVER ONCE gotten any sort of contact, phone call, letter or support of any kind from my "support" team in the county. And I know plenty of others that were in my same situation that have gone back to the old lifestyle cuz there is no long-term support. support from the

Having that one person who's been there, done that, and is now succeeding. Someone who's a certified peer support specialist and can call me, meet me for coffee, or go to a difficult meeting with me. This is what truly combats the isolation I feel sometimes.
What else can you think of that might support someone in recovery?
Support without pressure* Let them know you see their effort and believe in them, even when things get tough. Don’t push them to “get better” quickly. Recovery takes time, and what matters most is that they keep going. Just saying “You’ve come a long way, and I’m proud of you” can mean everything.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
and yet they have to work in a system that doesn't support the needs of the provider OR the youth. It meets needs of the insurance system.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Failing families who need intensive services for kids under the age of 13 with severe ongoing mental/behavioral/emotional/developmental issues who have no real resources to cope with ongoing violent crisis. The existing pathways are not set up for this kind of baseline behavior.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
There is insufficent resources for severe mental health/behavioral disorders for children under the age of 13. Need crisis response team and ongoing care just for us to be safe at home. Police will not come, Children's Hopsital will not admit when it's his baseline and his time at CLIP is ending. We have no further resources whatsoever and he is returning home regardless. Without the right help this is profoundly dangerous and frightning. Total lack of resources for remote areas such as Gold Bar which has only one WISe team in Monroe that causes more harm than good. WISe teams need better training and accountability for how they treat families instead of the deal with it we're your only possible team/resource attitude they currently have.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Intensive services for long term crisis in mental/behavioral health for kids under the age of 13. Each resource pushes off care to a different resource but in reality no resource is equipped to help violent ongoing crisis behavior in children under age 13.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
We need more workers. We need more ages at the table and in the field.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Care for severe violent behavior of kids under 13. Hospital will not admit them as that is baseline behavior and police will not even come because they aren't allowed to restrain so I am left alone with absolutely no help as my son tries to kill me, a single disabled mom.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
One is not enough. We need these resources in our smaller communities as soon as feasibly possible.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
I think that it's difficult for people to find a place where they feel comfortable enough to receive services. Intake processes are confusing for many agencies post pandemic, wait times are long, and there are not enough providers. There is also little cultural competen e for brown, black, and indigenous folks. When we are able to receive services with folks that understand the experience of being brown, black, or indigenous it is more effective, but there are few providers that fit this need.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?

What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Bias.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Not enough providers. Some providers are under-trained, particularly about symptoms related to lack of insight and topics related to cultural relevance. Family engagement is almost never a priority for a provider's time. Systems don't work together very often. Families have to know jargon and code words to get a doorway open even just a crack. There really isn't a "system" at all. It's a disjointed set of puzzle pieces that don't fit together into any intelligent design.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
There is incredibly limited space for mental health needs. There are no openings and everyone is being waitlisted.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
It is overwhelming, even in an arena that I have knowledge of.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Accessibility and timeliness are significant barriers. It is costly and time-intensive to pursue behavioral health support, and there are limited options for easing those burdens on families and youth. Often, places like schools are facing the most immediate and visible behavioral health needs of youth, and these organizations may not have the capacity or resources to adequately provide needed support in a timely manner.

Application & Availability before crisis: it's okay to talk about the things that seem weird or make you feel kind of delusional or self-diagnosing(especially in this day and age with social media) so that you can have a talk about that stuff in a safe environment before it gets to the point where you can't function.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Many are not aware of resources and even if they are it is so difficult to actually get the care they need due to various issues.

Discrimination, being judgemental and conviction of others.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
The organizations providing behavioral health services that are non profits make it extremely difficult to access the services (ex: needing to attend sign up during work hours only), and, I assume because they are soo over capacity, once you’ve done a certain amount of sessions they boot you out. Places that take state insurance do not seem to remember to take the “person” into account, it’s just another number to them.
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Clear widespread communication, fully adequate training on different populations, outreach to all affected groups
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
Lack of Medicaid BH providers and prescribers
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
I dont think there is enough peer support in the underserved communities. Youth in these at risk groups are less likely to complete a program because their support system is not as large. There needs to be whole family support, not just for the youth but the parents, the aunts, uncles, and all those in the "village" that are helping to raise and influence these kids. Otherwise they will continue down to struggle.

Many people experience long wait times, limited access to specialized services, and gaps in communication between providers. Getting initial help is good, but follow up isn't so great
What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
One big problem in the care system is how hard it is to get help quickly. Long wait times, high costs, and not enough providers make things worse, especially in some areas. Services don’t always work well together, so people get confused. Stigma also stops many from asking for help. And sometimes, care feels too general, not personal. All of this makes recovery more difficult than it should be.

What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?
I feel that parts of the system struggle when care is difficult to access, when wait times are long, when services are fragmented or don’t communicate well, and when people have to navigate complicated processes on their own; these gaps can make it harder for individuals to stay engaged, feel supported, and get timely, coordinated care that truly meets their needs.

What do you feel is not working in the overall System of Care?

I think there's a lack of communication between specialists, primary care, and support services. This leads to gaps in my care and sometimes conflicting advice. Better coordination would help ensure I'm getting consistent and effective care for my needs personally and reduce some of the stress of managing everything myself.

However, there are still areas that need improvement. Access to care is one of the biggest challenges — many people can’t afford services or live in areas where help isn’t available. The system can also be overwhelmed and understaffed, causing long waiting times and burnout among caregivers. Sometimes, the care provided focuses too much on short-term treatment instead of long-term recovery and support. There’s also still stigma around seeking help, especially in some communities, which stops people from reaching out early.
